Combat 8: 3 – vs. Allan Nascimento

Combat 8: 3 Matchup Poster

To just officially announce on here, my next fight will be at the third Combat 8 show on April 27th to be held at Big Top Luna Park in Sydney. Hopefully will be home court advantage being in Sydney and at Big Top where I’ve fought 8 previous times for CFC before so the surroundings will be familiar. This time though the rules will be different with the Combat 8 rules only allowing a limited time on the ground so there’ll be a lot more action on the feet.

My opponent is Allan Nascimento from Brazil who comes into this fight with a flawless 7 – 0 MMA record and training our of the well known Chute Boxe team. But flawless records don’t phase me much as everyone loses eventually and I aim to be the one to hand him his first loss.

Physically, preparation for this fight has been very good and I’m working on everything I need to to get the win. Mentally, I think I’m positioned much better than my last fight to be in the right frame of mind to win this fight. Last fight you could almost say I was too content and satisfied with everything and almost didn’t care about the result. I guess I wasn’t as hungry. But after losing my last fight and having parts of my life take a blow since then too, I’m more determined than ever to win. I’m hungry. I’m determined. And I’ve got a chip on my shoulder which will translate to me having no thought of self-preservation on my part and will come out for a war and mean my opponent is going to have a very, very hard time in there.

April 27th…. It’s on…

OneFC: Return of Warriors

ONE-FC-Return-of-Warriors-poster2

Been a while since I’ve posted but much going on and even this is a delayed post. Was lucky enough earlier in the month to attend OneFC: Return of Warriors in Malaysia helping out with cornering duties for fellow Aussie Viet – Thanh “Alladin” Vu who was fighting for a place in the semi finals for the Bantamweight eliminator. OneFC run things like clockwork and was a great show to be apart of, even if this time I was there as more a trainer/spectator than a fighter. I’ll get my change on OneFC soon enough. :) Read more…

ONE Fighting Championship

A new MMA promotion is starting up in Asia called One Fighting Championship and is looking to be the next big thing here in this region for MMA. The promotion is headed by the same director who headed the successful Martial Combat promotion out of Singapore most recently. ONE FC will also be based out of Singapore for its first show set to go on September 3rd and has been themed to be matching Champions vs Champions – which sounds like it’ll be a huge and exciting first show. CFC 17: Trekko vs Lisita

Wishing my brothers in arms the best of luck this Friday. I’ll be flying up to support them. KP.

Reposting from Lion’s Den Academy website.

“CFC 17 is on this Friday June 3rd up on the Gold Coast with four of the boys fighting. Mo Kandeel, Steven Semrany and Adam Sarkis will be taking a step up in competition and making their CFC debut on this QLD show. Rob Lisita will be headlining the event with a Lightweight Title fight against Bernardo Trekko. Rob has trained very hard for this fight and we all believe his time is now, and you will be seeing a new Lightweight champ come Friday night. Rob is hungry and wants it more and has a lot of motivation for this fight. It should be a very good performance from Rob no doubt.

CFC 16

Posted on | Comments Off

CFC 16 happened on Friday and was a great start to the CFC year. It was a much anticipated show for a couple reasons. Firstly, we hadn’t seen any CFC action since last October, and also because 5 of the fellas were fighting.

We ended up getting 4 out of 5 wins, with the loss coming by points decision for Alex, but the fight itself was easily the fight of the night. It was pretty much a standup war between the two. Chris Patterson started us off with a 1st round TKO win dropping his opponent with a nice elbow. Before that he landed a lot of good knees which hurt his opponent. Charlie Sukkar pulled off a first round armbar from the bottom. Was picked up and slammed a couple times, but he never let of the arm and the other guy eventually had to tap.  Josh Payne came away with a nice triangle/armbar combination finish in the first round as well. He too was not scared of the slam. :) And finally, as usual, Hector who is ex-Lion’s Den and now ATT, finished his opponent with some nasty elbows which cut his opponent open, and the doctor had to stop the fight. TUFFA 9

TUFFA 9 happened on the weekend up at the Central Coast and two of the boys from Lion’s Den were fighting. Both boys won their fights. Charlie Sukkar didn’t mess around and took the fight to the ground and was able to work ground and pound, eventually making his way to mount and finishing the fight in the first round via ref stoppage. Steve Semrany went the 3 round distance coming back from a slow start to being more aggressive in the second round and third rounds and taking the unanimous decision. Great win for Steve who had lost his previous two fights and then having a layoff from fighting, so it was a much needed win for him. Read more…

CFC 15: Oct 8th – Gold Coast

Been a delay making an official post on this, but I’ve been bit busy. However, I will be fighting this Friday on the Gold Coast at CFC 15 against Tyson “Kamikaze” Kroehn. This should be a very entertaining fight and I’m very excited to fight Tyson. Had a confirmation on the fight a while ago, so have had good preparation for it. What do I know about Tyson? I know he’s a good kid and growing into a very good fighter. I’m very sure there will be much respect in both directions come fight time. Read more…

Late fight entry to TUFFA 7 – Campbelltown

So after a few people pulling out of TUFFA 7, I was offered to fight on the card a couple days ago which is set for this Saturday the 28th. It’s not exactly a lot of notice, but after some consideration and some extra negotiation, I’ve decided to take the fight against Nick Honstein from the USA, who is fighting out of Platinum Extreme gym. TUFFA 6 – Newcastle

Another night of MMA fights will be on display at TUFFA 6 on Saturday the 7th up at Newcastle and i’ll be making the journey up there to watch and support some friends. Charlie and Moe from Lion’s Den will be fighting. Charlie will be making his first pro fight debut, and Moe will be having his last fight before he heads overseas. Should be 2-0 from the team. We are a bunch of tough motherf*ckers. :P Read more…

Calm Before The Storm…

All the hard training is over and we’ll be flying out tomorrow to Singapore for Martial Combat. It has been another tough camp leading up to this fight as it always is, and I’m in great conidtion. We have a stopover in Manila (Philippines) for a few hours before we make our final way to Singapore and land late Sunday night.

Summary of the week ahead is as follows:

- Monday is a free day with no commitments so we should fit in some relaxing and go do some stuff during the day.

- Tuesday begins the formal proceedings with medical checkups, tv shoots, and official weigh ins.

- Wednesday has Josh doing his own weigh ins, and my fight night which will be around 8pm local time. I’m the first fight, which is good, cause I always like to get my fight out of the way.

- Thursday will be Josh’s fight night, and he’ll be fight number 3. Then after all the fights are over will be the official after party at Big Easy at Resorts World Sentosa. I’m sure the night will go far into the morning to make use of out time there, as we fly out the next afternoon and land back in Sydney on Saturday morning.

I’m hoping for a very good fight, and of course a win result. Should be a good experiencing travelling with the team. I probably won’t be blogging during the trip, but will write up something when I get back. I’ll have more real time updates from my facebook page.

See ya all in a week.
